The Danville Police Department is asking for assistance from the community in the investigation of a shooting. According to the department, officers responded to 1321 Piney Forest Rd. on December 23 at 6:43 pm.
When officers arrived they found a 16-year-old boy suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that the boy had an altercation with two black teens on the apartment complex property before shots were fired. The two teens then fled the scene and ran towards Piney Forest Rd.
Police say it does not appear to be a random act. The department is asking that anyone in the area of 1321 Piney Forest Road/Maplewood Drive/Piney Forest Road that has video surveillance from Saturday night to contact the department at 434-799-6510. Anyone who witnessed the incident is also asked to contact the department.
