Two more individuals have completed the first phase of the credible messenger training in the City of Danville.  Shalontay Adams and Cindi Poteat as part of the training learned various tools and strategies to guide at-risk youths toward productive lives.

According to Robert David the City of Danville’s Violence Prevention Manager, “What we are doing with this program is reaching out to individuals who thought they could not be a part of the work that is being done (to mentor at-risk youths.  Through this program you can become part of improving your own community and improving the city.”

Adams and Poteat now move on to phase 2, which will involve shadowing workers within the Project Imagine organization for 20 hours.

Credible messengers are individuals with relevant life experiences whose role is to help youth transform attitudes and behaviors around violence.
