A 15-year-old boy facing a first degree murder charge in Danville has been found incompetent to stand trial. Amarion Marquis Hairston, 15, was arrested for the shooting death of 37-year-old Marcus Hairston on May 1 at Woodside Village Apartments. The suspect and victim were not related.
Amarion Hairston also faces charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm under the age of 18 among other charges.
Hairston was ruled incompetent because of his failure to understand the charges and his age. He will now go to W.W. Moore Jr. Juvenile Detention Home and will receive restoration services to help him understand the severity of the charges.
After the services are complete Hairston could be found competent to stand trial. He will be tried as an adult.
Two other people were also injured in the shooting. Martique Holland was also arrested for the shooting and is scheduled to appear in court on March 11.
