South Boston Health and Rehab has announced a tentative reopening date for sometime in July. The facility has been closed since a damaging fire on August 11, 2023 that caused 135 residents to be displaced.
The fire started in the electrical room. There were no injuries from the fire, but four residents had to be taken to hospitals for evaluation. The damage from the fire was estimated to be a multi-million-dollar loss.
The facility said in a post on Facebook that further updates will be posted on the page when available. They also said they will announce when they will be looking to hire staff members and accept applications for residents.
