With the extreme cold temperatures being experienced this week in the area, the City of Danville reminds residents and visitors that it is prepared to assist in arranging a warming shelter and providing directions to resources that meet their needs.
Residents and visitors should call 434-799-5111, option 8, and they will be connected to the City of Danville’s communications center. The center will provide assistance in conjunction with community agencies and use of other available resources.
If demand for shelter exceeds the capacity of community agencies and other resources, then the City of Danville will open a temporary shelter.
The high temperature for today is forecast to reach the upper 30s, but the low for tonight will again be in the low teens. On Friday, the National Weather Service in Blacksburg forecasts temperatures to arrive once again, with highs in the low to mid 30s and overnight lows in the low to mid-teens.
