Chatham Middle School and the Pittsylvania County Career and Technical Center were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning. The lockdown began at around 9:20 am when a partial message was heard on the two-way radios at the Career and Technical Center about a gun in an abandoned vehicle.
Neither school was mentioned in the message, but out of an abundance of caution both schools were placed on lockdown and the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office was contacted.
After an investigation it was determined that there was no danger to the schools. The message was determined to be from a nearby business.
