A man charged with a 2023 murder in Pittsylvania County pleaded not guilty in court on Monday. 34-year-old Cordero Montez Rucker, of Lynchburg, has been charged with the homicide of Jonathan Robertson, of Pittsville. Rucker is also facing three weapons charges. 

The incident occurred on Feb 12, 2023 at an Airbnb on Falcon Ridge Dr. near Leesville Lake. The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 10:30 pm.

When officers arrived Robertson had been taken in a car to Centra Medical Center in Gretna for gunshot wounds. Robertson later died from his injuries.

Rucker was later apprehended in Lynchburg. His trial will begin in early March.
