The number of Pittsylvania County customers experiencing the ease of high-speed fiber internet with RiverStreet Networks continues to climb, with 253 activated as of February 16. Another 378 orders are currently in the queue for service.
RiverStreet Networks provided an update to the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors during its February 20 work session, noting that there are now 2,765 locations where service is available.
With 253 activations and 2,765 locations available, the “take rate” currently stands at approximately 9%; which is “on par with first year take rates for many active broadband expansion projects currently underway in Virginia,” said Dave Arnold, Assistant County Administrator. Once the project is completed, the take rate is estimated to be around 40-45%.
RiverStreet estimates the project will be completed by late 2025, with a hard deadline of 2026 to meet funding requirements.
Areas with service availability include Sandy Level (657); Lakeside (485); Renan (847) and Java (776).
The Strawberry portion of the County currently has 1,572 serviceable addresses under construction, followed by Chestnut with 587. Areas located within the project, but not yet under construction include Ringgold, Brosville, Brights, Gretna and Hurt.
Once completed, RiverStreet Networks will be able to offer high speed broadband to 16,502 locations in Pittsylvania County.
