George Washington High School (GW) Principal Reyhan Deskins announced Tuesday that he will be leaving GW following the 23-24 school year. Deskins will be returning to Franklin County to serve as principal at Franklin County High School.
Deskins joined GW as principal in 2022. In his tenure, he has overseen major renovation projects, improved engagement, and focused on the student experience at the school.
“The board thanks Mr. Deskins for his two years of leadership at George Washington High School,” School Board Chair Ty’Quan Graves said. “He has made a positive impact at GW, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
“Mr. Deskins has done wonderful work at George Washington High School for our students,” Danville Public Schools (DPS) Superintendent Dr. Angela Hairston said. “We appreciate his guidance, perseverance, and unyielding support of GW students. He will be missed by staff, administrators, and scholars alike.”
Deskins will complete the current school year at GW. The GW principal position will be posted within the week, and DPS leadership will work with staff and families to discuss what they would like to see in GW’s next leader.
