Averett University Professor, Dr. David Hanbury, has been found deceased. Averett University released an official statement after receiving word from his family regarding the passing.
“Averett University is saddened to share the heartbreaking update of the passing of Dr. David Hanbury. On behalf of the entire Averett University community, we send our affection, condolences and prayers of support to Dr. Hanbury’s family, friends and all others upon whom he had a lasting impact.”
The Orlando Police Department said in a release that at this time that foul play is not suspected. No further information has been released at this time.

Hanbury was attending the Southeastern Psychological Association Conference there and was last seen the evening of Friday, March 15 at a nearby bar. Hanbury was last seen wearing a blue short-sleeve polo shirt with a small University of Kentucky logo on the front left side.
Averett University said in a statement that every effort is being made to actively investigate the circumstances there. Further inquiries should be made to the Orlando Police Department.
Dr. Hanbury joined the Averett faculty more than eight years ago. He is an associate professor and co-chair of the Psychology Department and serves as the chair for the Division of Physical and Psychological Health Sciences.
