The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors has asked county staff to put together a budget based on a 56-cent real estate tax rate.
The current tax rate is 62-cents and the proposed rate for the budget was 59-cents. However, with property values increasing close to 50% on average, most property owners will still pay more.
The Board of Supervisors will vote on the rate and the budget on Thursday night.
