The Martinsville Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Friday morning. At approximately 11:30 am the Martinsville Police Department received reports of shots fired on the 1000th block of Cherry Street.

Upon officers arrival at the scene, it was discovered that an adult male had left the scene and been transported to SOVAH Health Martinsville with an apparent gunshot wound.

Detectives are interviewing several subjects and have detained one adult male. However, no charges have been filed at this time.
