God’s Storehouse will partner with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) for the 32nd Annual National Letter Carrier food drive, Stamp Out Hunger. The letter carriers and God’s Storehouse will collect food for those in need on Saturday, May 11.

Customers can leave their donation of non-perishable food items (no glass please) next to their
mailbox before the delivery of the mail that day. Letter carriers will collect the food donations
along their routes and deliver them to the post office.

God’s Storehouse volunteers will assist postal workers in collecting food along their routes while
also unloading and sorting food at the post office.

Thousands of pounds of food are typically donated locally by the community. In the 30 years since it began, the food drive has collected about 1.82 billion pounds of food for struggling residents throughout America.

God’s Storehouse is seeing an increase in the number of families (18% more than 2023) needing
food due to rising food costs and decreases in SNAP benefits and seeing a 24% decrease in donated food. The donated food from the food drive enables God’s Storehouse to stock the shelves for the summer months when food donations from schools, individuals, and faith groups decrease.

“We are so grateful to the postmasters and postal workers for participating in this event. This
food stocks our shelves for the summer months and greatly helps our neighbors in need.” Karen
Harris, Executive Director of God’s Storehouse said, “God’s Storehouse appreciates that this is an
extra burden on already overloaded postal workers, and we work very hard to have lots of
volunteers to help pick up in neighborhoods and to help off-load the postal trucks at the post
office.”

As summer approaches and donations from the winter holiday donations are dwindling, God’s
Storehouse is looking to ensure its shelves are stocked. God’s Storehouse is extremely grateful and proud to be able to partner with the NALC and the postal service to distribute these donations to those in need. This collaborative effort will help provide hundreds of meals to our neighbors facing food insecurity.

  1. Thanks to God’s Store House and the Postal Workers for helping with making sure families in the Danville area get help with needed food items so they won’t go hungry.

  2. Thanks also for the families that help out with giving much needed food items. Thanks to the grocery stores for donating food items. Without y’all’s help people would go hungry.
