The Danville Fire Department battled an outdoor fire at Blue Ridge Fiberboard on Sunday afternoon. Units were dispatched to 250 Celotex Drive at 2:44 pm.
The department responded with three engines, one ladder, one tender, one support unit, and one command unit with a total of 16 personnel. The arriving unit found a large fire in the outside storage area of the plant where the finished board products are stacked and stored.
The fire units established a water supply with the on-site hydrants and began to extinguish the fire. Plant personnel also assisted by moving stacked materials with tow motors.
The extinguishment process lasted six hours and no injuries were reported.
