A Greensboro man was arrested following a high-speed chase in Rockingham County on Thursday night. At around 7 pm, a deputy attempted to stop a red 370z that was traveling a high rate of speed on 704 near Jacobs Creek Volunteer Fire Department, but the vehicle refused to stop and a chase ensued.
At times during the pursuit, 370Z reached speeds above 100 mph. As the suspect vehicle entered a curve at NC 65 near DJ Drive in the Town of Wentworth, it lost control and crashed into a power pole. The vehicle proceeded another 100 yards, crashed into a parked vehicle on DJ Drive, and then into another power pole, where it stopped. A deputy freed the driver and only occupant from the vehicle, and took him into custody.
Vegas Alexander Roberts, 22, of 3251 Hines Chapel Rd. Greensboro, N.C., was arrested for Felony Fleeing to Elude Arrest and other traffic-related charges. Roberts was also charged for a firearm concealed on Roberts person when he took him into custody and another firearm concealed in a backpack in the car. Roberts was also charged with Carrying a Concealed Firearm. He was placed in the Rockingham County Jail under a $120,000 secured bond.
