The Danville Police Department expects heavier than normal traffic this weekend in the area of Mt. Cross Road, Lowe’s Drive and Piedmont Drive due to Pittsylvania County Schools graduations at the Averett University E. Stuart James Grant North Campus.

Police will be present on Mt. Cross Road at the entrance of Averett’s North Campus this weekend during the four graduation ceremonies. One ceremony is set for Friday evening, May 24, at 7 p.m. and three throughout the day Saturday, May 25.

The Department reminds motorists to use caution when travelling through the intersection and along Mt. Cross Road/Piedmont Drive, and at Mt. Cross Road/Lowe’s Drive.

For anyone attending any of the ceremonies, there is only one way in or out of the facility. Remember to exercise patience when in traffic, and plan to leave early so that you do arrive on time. Wear your seatbelt, put the phone down, and pay attention to all traffic signals and to officer’s directions.
