The ValleyStar RISE Foundation is thrilled to announce the successful wrap-up of its annual golf tournament, the “Big Tee Off,” which raised an impressive $45,000 in support of the Children’s Miracle Network. The event took place on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the prestigious Chatmoss Country Club in Martinsville, Virginia. Despite the potential for inclement weather, which had a rain date scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024, the tournament proceeded as planned and was a remarkable success.
The “Big Tee Off” was not just a day on the greens but a profound opportunity to make a tangible impact in the lives of children in need. Organized by the ValleyStar RISE Foundation, the charitable arm of ValleyStar Credit Union, the tournament aimed to raise funds for the purchase of life-saving medical equipment at Carilion Children’s Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Carilion Children’s annually treats over 40,000 children from 40 counties in Virginia and neighboring states, offering essential medical care to those who require it most.
The contributions from the RISE Foundation extend beyond medical assistance. The funds also actively support local college students by providing scholarships at Patrick & Henry Community College. This initiative not only ensures that the funds remain within the community but also plays a pivotal role in fostering educational opportunities for students residing in areas served by ValleyStar. This highlights yet another avenue through which ValleyStar demonstrates its unwavering commitment to giving back to the community.
“We are delighted with the outcome of the ‘Big Tee Off’ and extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants and sponsors for their generous support,” said Rachael Williams, President of the ValleyStar RISE Foundation. “Together, we have made a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young adults in our community, and this achievement reflects our collective dedication to community service.”
