The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for a missing Hillsborough, NC woman. Shirley Haith, 79, has not been seen since midday on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Family members reported her missing Friday, May 24, 2024.
She lives in a rural area, in the northwestern part of Orange County. Her home is near the intersection of Harmony Church and Lynch Store Roads, and she rarely ventures far from her residence other than for a few regular errands and activities.
Haith is five feet two inches tall. She weighs approximately 180 pounds and has short white hair. She has no known cognitive issues and therefore does not qualify for a Silver Alert. She drives a light blue 1997 Ford Contour with license plate number XWY-7639. Not only is the car relatively rare, but also it has several distinguishing features, which include:
• A front license plate with the word Jesus on it
• A pink foam flower attached to the rear antenna
• Folded towels on the floorboard
Deputies have entered Haith into NCIC (a computerized index designed for the rapid exchange of information between law enforcement agencies) as a missing person and issued several statewide alerts. Please call 911 immediately if you see Mrs. Haith or have any information regarding her current whereabouts.
