The Danville Area Humane Society is offering a reward after a rabbit was stolen during a burglary and died. On May 10, police investigated a report of the theft of the rabbit, along with other items, on Paxton Street. The body of the rabbit was later found in a white cage that had been discarded in an open field near the house.
Paulette Dean, director, said, “Any act of cruelty to an animal that results in the death of the animal is taken very seriously in this area. We are grateful for the Danville Police Department’s commitment to this case. The rabbit was powerless to escape the cage.”
The humane society is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. If anyone has any information about this case, please call (434) 799-5306. Callers may remain anonymous.
