Last night Danville City Council voted to lower the real estate tax in the city. The council approved the final adoption of the measure that will lower the real estate tax from 84 cents per $100 of assessed value to 83 cents per $100 of assessed value.
City Council also heard a review of the general fund financials and got some good news from Finance Director Michael Adkins.
“Sales tax for the month of May we received $1.2 million for our monthly installment, that was the third highest one month collection of sales tax that we’ve ever had. Meals tax we received $1.1 million in May and that was for April sales of prepared meals and that was the highest we’ve ever collected in one month,” said Adkins.
The council also heard first readings on proposed fee changes that will be voted on at the next meeting. The proposed fee changes are:
1) Community Development planning and zoning fees.
2) Community Development Department inspection fees.
3) Public Works Department sanitation fees.
4) Public Works Department cemetery fees.
