Davenport Energy Inc. has awarded an additional $5,000 in ExxonMobil education grants to Pittsylvania County schools.

The recent awards are in addition to $20,000 in ExxonMobil education grants Davenport Energy presented to schools in Virginia and North Carolina earlier this year.

The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program provides Exxon and Mobil retailers an opportunity to invest in the future of communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.

Every year, ExxonMobil awards Educational Alliance grants to K-12 institutions across the country. Since 2000, the company has committed over $40 million to the grant program.

Davenport Energy, an ExxonMobil branded distributor, secured education grants totaling $25,000 on behalf of its Exxon and Mobil gasoline stations and convenience stores.

The latest Pittsylvania County schools receiving grants include Chatham Elementary School, Gretna Elementary School, Gretna Middle School, John L. Hurt Elementary School, Kentuck Elementary School, Mount Airy Elementary School, Stony Mill Elementary School, Brosville Elementary School, Tunstall Middle School, and Union Hall Elementary School.

“We have a long history of supporting local schools, and consider it a privilege to invest our time and resources in the communities where we do business,” said a spokesman for Davenport Energy.

Headquartered in Chatham, Va., Davenport Energy supplies gasoline and diesel fuel to 300 convenience stores, gas stations, and trucking centers in Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia.

Davenport Energy also delivers propane and heating oil to more than 35,000 customers throughout the region.
