Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash, which resulted in a fatality.  The crash occurred Saturday, at 3:41 pm on Route 729, one half mile south of Route 726 in Pittsylvania County.

A 2010 GMC Yukon was traveling north on Route 729, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected crossing the roadway, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The driver of the GMC was identified as Kevin Lamont Ballard, 37, of Ringgold. Ballard was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
