A new supersonic jet factory completed construction in Greensboro on Monday. Boom Supersonic has announced that construction of the new factory that will bring 2,400 jobs to the area is now complete.

The new facility is located at Piedmont Triad Airport and will be the final assembly line for customer delivery and Overture flight testing. The factory is a $500 million investment from Boom Supersonic.

The state-of-the-art assembly line is where Boom will build its supersonic airliner, Overture. The Overture Superfactory is the first supersonic airliner factory in the United States.

“Construction of the Overture Superfactory represents a major milestone toward ensuring the United States’ continued leadership in aerospace manufacturing,” said Blake Scholl, founder and CEO of Boom Supersonic. “Supersonic flight will transform air travel, and Overture provides a much-needed innovative alternative for airlines across the globe.”

The Superfactory will play a vital role in securing America’s continued leadership in aerospace manufacturing, and is expected to contribute more than $32 billion to North Carolina’s economy. Boom expects for flights to be ready for passengers by 2029.
