God’s Storehouse is hosting a Summer Peanut Butter and Cereal Drive Kickoff that will also include a special announcement impacting local school children. On Friday, June 21, from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm, community members are invited to bring cereal and peanut butter for the drive and join us for a hot dog lunch with a big announcement that will impact the community.

This event will be held at God’s Storehouse, located at 750 Memorial Drive. Signs will be posted as to where to drop off donations. Monetary donations will also be accepted on site.

“We are steadily seeing an increase in the number of people in need of our services and a decline in the number of donations coming in. Unfortunately, in the summer months, our donations tend to drop even more. Cereal and peanut butter are staple items, due to children being out of school, and we simply cannot keep them on our shelves. These items are distributed as quickly as they come in,” said Karen Harris, executive director of God’s Storehouse. “We desperately need help from the community to restock our shelves, so that we can continue to provide for those in need.”

More than 11,000 families have been helped by God’s Storehouse so far this year with more than 10,000 boxes of food given out.

“The need in the community for food is greater than ever,” said Harris. “We couldn’t do what we do to help people without the generous support of our neighbors. We are grateful for every single donation.”
