Customers of Martinsville Waterworks were notified on Friday of a problem with the drinking water, and were advised to boil all drinking/cooking water until further notice.
Water loss occurred at the waterworks and was corrected on Friday. The Boil Water Notice was issued as a safety precaution due to limited pressure in the water system.
Additional sampling performed on Saturday and Sunday resulted in all distribution samples testing negative for detection of bacteria in the water. According to the City of Martinsville the problem has been corrected and that it is no longer necessary to boil all drinking/cooking water.
