Two people were killed on Tuesday night in Pittsylvania County and the suspect is in custody. The Pittsylvania County 911 center received a call at approximately 9:30pm on Tuesday that two subjects had been shot at 471 River Ridge Rd, in Axton.

When the Deputies arrived, they found two individuals unresponsive with what appeared to be gunshot wounds outside the residence. Those individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody on scene without incident.

The victims were identified as 41-year-old William Jason Roberts, of Roanoke, and 39-year-old Ashley Marie Roberts, of Roanoke. 65- year-old William Lester Roberts was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and one count of discharging a firearm inside a dwelling.

The victims are the son and daughter-in-law of the suspect. William Lester Roberts is being held without bond in the Pittsylvania County Jail. The case is still under investigation.
