Virginia radio and television stations were recognized for excellence in broadcasting at the 87th Annual Virginia Association of Broadcasters Awards Program this past Friday at the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel.

Ryan Stone, Brandon Burnett, and Josh Lineberry were recognized with a first-place win in the Outstanding Sports Coverage category for their coverage of GW High School Football.

Jon Talbott was runner up for Best Radio Personality for his “Big Jon and the Cool Classics” show. WAKG/WBTM took home second place for Best Public Service/Community Event Radio for its long running Christmas Bucks for Kids Campaign.

Awards were based on projects first aired between January 1 and December 31, 2023, and to keep the decision-making process a non-biased one, contest entries were judged by the members of the Maine Association of Broadcasters.
