The Danville Police Department is investigating after the body of Danville resident Fred Matthew Floyd, 68, was pulled from the Dan River Thursday evening, in the area behind Carrington Pavilion.
Floyd was tubing with others on the river when he got out of their sight. They found him in the water unconscious and not breathing. At 6:05 pm, police and EMS responded to the scene, however, Floyd was pronounced dead a short time later.
Floyd’s remains will be transported to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for an autopsy. The investigation remains ongoing.
