On Tuesday night, Danville City Council approved a large new housing project for the city. Blackstone Building Group LLC was approved for a special use permit for a planned unit development that could have as many as 360 two and three story townhomes.
The development will be located on nine parcels. The development will stretch from the intersection of Kayewood Lane and Riverside Drive to the intersection of Kayewood Lane and Westover Drive.
The first phase of the project will include 46 townhomes that will exclusively use Vandola Road for entrance and exit. The remaining development will use Kayewood Lane.
City Council also approved a raise for the Mayor and members of the City Council that will go into effect next July. Currently the Mayor makes $20,000 annually, while City Council members make $18,000 a year.
The new raise will take the Mayor’s salary up to $37,000 a year and City Council members will make $34,000. The raises passed with a vote of 6-2, with Councilmen Lee Vogler and Madison Whittle voting against the raise.
