Danville Parks and Recreation held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday for the new splash pad in Doyle J Thomas Park. The ribbon cutting followed a soft opening on Monday.
The new splash pad will be open from 10 am to 6 pm Monday-Thursday and 10 am to 8 pm Friday-Sunday. This is the second splash pad that the City of Danville has opened this summer after opening the one at Third Avenue earlier in the summer.
“The City Manager and others will tell you, council members will tell you, often times people will say ‘what in the world is happening with the Caesars money?’ This is part of the plan that the citizens decided that they wanted to do and as you heard me say at Westmoreland, our parks and our playgrounds are back,” said Mayor Alonzo Jones.
Admission to the splash pad is free.
