One juvenile has been arrested following a shooting in Halifax on Monday. According to the Halifax Police Department, the Halifax County EOC received a call from the area of 584 N Main St. reporting someone had been shot.

Shortly after, officers responded and found a white male subject lying on the sidewalk of Elam St. suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim stated he was at the end of Hedderly St. when two black males approached him on foot. One of them shot into his vehicle causing his wound.

The victim was transported to Sentara Halifax Hospital and then transported to Duke Medical Center where he remains in stable condition.

Another witness stated they heard what sounded like a gunshot before seeing two black male subjects run across LP Bailey Hwy and down behind the Jiffy store. A clothing description was given to the officer’s on scene.

Cpl. J. Garber and K9 Officer Gus of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office discovered a spent shell casing and followed the scent to a nearby residence. Deputies checked the area and located a juvenile that matched the description of one of the suspects observed fleeing the scene. A handgun was also recovered along with a large quantity of narcotics and an empty gun holster.
