Morgan Olson announced on Wednesday that 139 employees will be laid off from the Ringgold plant. Morgan Olson builds walk-in step vans and is located in the Cane Creek Centre Industrial Park.

The company said in a statement:

Due to the current economic conditions and forecasts, Morgan Olson will reduce its workforce at their production facility in Ringgold, Virginia. Despite this necessary workforce reduction, the company emphasizes that the Virginia facility, along with all of Morgan Olson’s other North American locations, will continue to operate to satisfy market demand.

The announcement comes after the company laid off 435 employees from the Ringgold location in December of 2023. The next round of lay offs will take place on September 27.

The company announced in 2019 that they were establishing a walk-in step van assembly plant at the former IKEA plant in Ringgold. The facility was supposed to create 703 jobs.
