The remnants of Tropical Storm Debby are expected to reach the southside with rain beginning as early as Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, rain could continue through Friday with storm totals ranging from 1 to 3 inches in the mountains to 3-7″ in the Piedmont, with locally higher amounts possible.
A Flash Flood Watch has also been issued for the southside from late Wednesday night to early Friday morning. As of 2 pm Tuesday, Debby is moving east-northeast at 5 mph and has winds as high as 45 mph.
