The identity of a man that was arrested for a shooting that occurred on Route 58 in Halifax County has been released. 22-year-old De’Corrius Dyson Thompson, of Midlothian, was arrested by the Danville Police Department following a be-on-the-lookout issued by the Virginia State Police Friday, Aug. 23.
Thompson was arrested at 9:52 pm near the intersection of South Boston Rd. and Williamson Road. Thompson was charged with transporting a loaded rifle or shotgun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, first offense.
A 59-year-old man was injured during the shooting at 9:30 pm during an altercation between two vehicles. The injured man was taken to the hospital in Roanoke with non-life threatening injuries.
Thompson is being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond. According to the Gazette-Virginian, more charges are pending.
