On Wednesday, a man was found guilty in court for a murder that occurred in Pittsylvania County in 2022. Daniel Wayne Neal was found guilty on all charges, murder in the first degree, statutory burglary and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Neal was found guilty for the murder of Charles Van Hooker on February 11, 2022 at 1328 Boxwood Road in Gretna. A mistrial was previously declared in July 2023 after one of the witnesses said that he had spoken with another witness inside of one of the witness rooms.

Neal will be sentenced at a later date.
