Last night, the Pittsylvania County Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval for a special use request for a residential addiction treatment group home in Chatham. Epic Management Group requested the permit on 5.5 acres on Highway 29 just past Tightsqueeze.
The home has historically been a single family dwelling with three buildings on the property, but Epic is wanting to turn it into a 16 bed addiction treatment group home. The facility would have on-site supervision at all times with one direct service professional per 8 residents. No treatment would take place on the property.
Epic Health Partners also has a behavioral health facility on Deer Run Road in Danville, which is where all treatment would take place.
The proposed project will go before the board of zoning appeals on October 7.
