Relief efforts provided by God’s Pit Crew are headed to Houma, Louisiana, to assist victims of Hurricane Francine which struck the state’s coastline as a Category 2 hurricane leaving destruction in its wake.  As communities look to clean up and recover from the damage left behind, God’s Pit Crew is proving many items needed to do just that.

A full tractor-trailer load of Blessing Buckets, which are five-gallon buckets containing non-perishable food, water, hygiene items, first-aid kits, flashlights, Bibles, and handwritten notes of encouragement departed God’s Pit Crew headquarters in Danville, Virginia, on Friday.  The supplies are being delivered to officials in Houma, Louisiana, where they will be distributed to anyone in need.  Along with the Blessing Buckets, pallets of bottled water, drinks, and snack foods will also be included in the relief supply delivery.

This response by the God’s Pit Crew ministry serves as a return to the southern Louisiana communities, as crews also spent weeks responding in this hard-hit area in 2021 after Hurricane Ida made landfall causing deadly destruction.

God’s Pit Crew President, Randy Johnson, says the ministry prays the relief items being sent will help the community see that there is hope in the coming days as they work to clean up.

“In the wake of disaster, we’re blessed with volunteers and supporters that step up and go the extra mile to serve hurting people – and for that we are so thankful.”

Volunteers spent all day Thursday at the God’s Pit Crew warehouse filling over 1,300 Blessing Buckets and Play Pails with relief supplies so that the items would be ready to go and help disaster victims at a moment’s notice.  Johnson explained that responses like this by the God’s Pit Crew ministry would not be possible without the gracious donations that fund all the organization’s relief efforts.

“Everyone who makes a gift to aid our relief efforts helps move our mission of providing hope and healing forward,” said Johnson.  “The people we’re blessed to serve are experiencing what may be the darkest times of their lives, but it’s your generosity that gives them hope that they can keep going.”

In 2024, God’s Pit Crew has responded to 15 major disaster situations throughout the country and delivered more than 30 tractor-trailer loads of relief supplies to disaster victims, including over 10,000 Blessing Buckets.
