A man that was found dead in a Danville hotel room Sunday was a former GW High School football star. The body of Bryan “Keeta” Covington was discovered at the Astoria Hotel in Danville on Sunday.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers responded to the hotel on Sunday after receiving a report of a deceased male.  The investigation revealed no signs of bodily trauma.

Danville Police didn’t release the name of the man that was found deceased. Family members confirmed that it was Covington.

Covington was an All-State running back for the GW State Championship team in 1982. He went on to play college football at Maryland as a defensive back and kickoff return specialist.

Covington was named to the All-ACC team in 1985 and 1986. He led the ACC in interceptions with six in 1985 and kickoff return yards per return with 23.2.
