A 17-year-old has been arrested for having a gun at an Eden High School. On Monday, The Eden Police Department received information that a 17-year-old student of Morehead High School had a gun in their possession while at school.

Police were notified after school hours. A thorough investigation of the incident was completed and Investigators consulted with the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office. Juvenile petitions were obtained and the juvenile was placed in secure custody, prior to midnight on Monday.

The 17-year-old has been charged with possession of a firearm on school property, possession of a firearm as a minor, and carrying a concealed weapon. 

At this time, the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released.
