One person was rescued when the Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 884 Piney Forest Rd. on Tuesday. Crews responded to the fire at 7:30 am, upon arrival crews found a single family residential structure with heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of the structure.
Crews located and removed a victim from an exterior window to safety and immediately performed a search on the rest of the house while other crews extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported.
Crews consisted of three engines, one ladder truck a safety officer and a Battalion Chief. Also assisting were the Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, and Danville Utilities.
The cause of the fire was determined to be intentional by the Danville Fire Departments Fire Marshall’s office with charges pending. Units were on scene for two hours.
