The Danville Police Department has launched a new safety program called Operation Lockout. The goal of the program is to reach senior citizens, those with disabilities, and others through a faster response for service.
Through this safety program, participants will be provided with a lockbox to keep a key to their home in a secure location that will only be accessible by officers. The locks were generously provided by Lowe’s Home Improvement, The Home Depot, and Harbor Freight.
Operation Lockout was created due to a need for quickly reaching seniors who may be alone and cannot get to the door. By having ease of access, this program could reduce costs suffered from having to break a window or bust through a door to reach someone having an emergency.
Anyone interested in Operation Lockout should contact Danville Police Department Crime Prevention unit at(434) 797-8898 ext. 3 to learn if they qualify or for additional details.
