Virginia State Police is investigating a vehicle versus pedestrian crash, which resulted in a fatality.  The crash occurred Sunday, (Dec 8) at 5:45 pm on US 29, two tenths of a mile south of Route 946 in Pittsylvania County.

A 2024 Honda CRV was traveling south on US 29, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian which was standing in the roadway. The pedestrian was then struck by a 2021 Subaru.

The pedestrian was identified as 79-year-old Carlos Manuel Vientos, of Danville. Vientos died at the scene.

The driver of the Honda was not injured. No charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
