The Altavista Police Department is searching for a car in connection to a weekend shooting. On Saturday at 11:23 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Novelty St and Amherst Ave in regards to shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim in the area of Amherst and Main with gunshot wounds. The victim, a 33-year-old male, was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with life threatening injuries and is currently in serious condition.

Altavista Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 2001 Silver Honda with Viriginia license THU-6368 connected with this incident. Police don’t believe that the shooting was random.
