Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company has announced that production at the Danville plant will be refocused. In a statement the company said that the Danville facility will now be focused on mixing and the aviation sector.

Goodyear said in the statement that the majority of the Danville plant’s commercial tire production will be moved to other facilities in its footprint.

According to the company, the reason for the change is to strengthen the Danville plant’s competitiveness. At this time Goodyear says they are in discussions with United Steelworkers about how this will impact staffing at the Danville location.
