The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing man. 79-year-old Morris Fain was reported missing on Monday.
Fain was believed to have been traveling in a 2001 White Nissan Altima with a taillight out and a handicap placard hanging from the rearview mirror. Morris was last heard from on Monday at around 4:30pm while driving to 312 Acme Street in Reidsville, but he never arrived at that location.
After releasing the initial report that Fain had been reported missing, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office received information that he was seen in Danville on Monday evening at the Auto Zone where he stopped and asked for directions back to Reidsville, as he had become lost.
Later, Fain stopped at the Liberty Gas Station on Franklin Turnpike in Danville and again asked for directions to Reidsville. He was escorted by a motorist from the gas station to US 29 Bypass where he exited to the southbound lane. That was the last time he was seen.
Fain was wearing a flannel button-up shirt, Blue jeans and Gray in color “Hey Dude” shoes.
Fain is still missing and family members have not heard from him, nor has anyone been able to reach him by cell phone and the service provider has determined the phone is currently powered off. Authorities in Danville and Rockingham County areas have yet to locate him. Anyone who sees Morris Fain is asked to call 9-1-1 and report his location.
