One person was injured during a shooting in Pittsylvania County on January 19. According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, at 1 pm deputies were dispatched to the 1100 Block of Afton Road in Danville for a report of a suspected shooting incident.
Once on scene, deputies found a male victim who had suffered significant trauma from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim was transported from the scene by rescue members to SOVAH Emergency Room.
Evidence was seized at the residence by investigators and witnesses were interviewed. The victim continues to be treated for his injuries.
A person of interest has been identified, but no arrest has been made at this time. Evidence is still being reviewed by investigators and Commonwealth Attorney Bryan Haskin.
The shooting appears to have been a domestic incident.
