A Danville man was sentenced in court on Tuesday on a second-degree murder charge. 33-year-old Louis Garnett III was sentenced to 28 years in prison for the shooting death of 32-year-old Quayshawn Witherspoon on March 31, 2024. Garnett previously pleaded guilty to the charge.
According to the Danville Police Department, officers responded at 1:20 pm to a shooting incident inside a residence in the 600 block of Fairhaven Circle. Once on scene, officers located Witherspoon suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Garnett was at the scene and taken into custody. The two men were living at the residence and got into an argument that resulted in Garnett shooting Witherspoon.
