A mistrial has been declared for a man that was accused of killing his fiancée in Henry County. Adam Hughes was arrested for the murder of his fiancée, Laura Cardenas, in November of 2023.

Cardenas was reported missing in October of 2023. During a search of Hughes’ home human blood was found.

Hughes is facing charges of second degree murder and concealment of a dead body. The jury was deadlocked and couldn’t agree on a verdict leading to the mistrial.

The retrial for Hughes will be held in September.
