The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire southside. The warning will be in effect from 6 am on Tuesday to noon on Wednesday.

The warning includes Pittsylvania, Henry, and Halifax counties, along with cities of Danville and Martinsville.

Heavy mixed winter precipitation is expected with total snow and sleet accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and ice accumulation up to two tenths of an inch possible.

The hazardous conditions are expected to cause numerous power outages and tree damage. Road conditions are also expected to be impacted.
