The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Flood Warning for the Dan River in South Boston and Halifax County. The warning is in effect until Sunday morning at 9:45 am.

The warning also includes Wentworth, the sewage treatment plant near Danville,  and Paces.

As of 11 am on Thursday, the Dan River in South Boston was at 20.2 ft. and rising. The flood stage is 22 ft.

At 23.0 ft., water approaches Highway 501 between Route 58 and the Dan River. At 25.0 ft., Highway 501 between Route 58 and the Dan River is closed as it is covered by up to 2 ft. of water.
